A missionary is a member of a religious group sent into an area to do evangelism or ministries of service, such as education, literacy, social justice, health care, economic development, charity and additionally in our case, evangelism through wedding ceremonies, as well as self-protection classes, English classes and other life skills to encourage a safer and better quality of life.
Historically, the word missionary was used in light of its biblical usage; In the Latin translation of the Bible, Christ uses the word when sending the disciples to preach in his name: "He said therefore to them again: Peace be to you. As the Father hath sent me, I also send you." (John 20:21) and "And he said to them: The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send laborers into his harvest. Go: Behold I send you as lambs among wolves." (Luke 10:2–3).
The term Missionary is most commonly used for Christian missions, but can be used for any creed or ideology. At Liberty Missionary College, we teach faith values, self empowerment and have community events to promote community enrichment and cross culture cohesion.
