Advanced Research Degrees in Divinity: Program Summary
Divinity refers to the study of a particular religion or theology. At the associate's degree level, programs under this name often refer to the study of Christianity. These studies are used as an educational background for aspiring ministers, pastors or church leaders.
These 2-year programs are primarily offered through private, Christian universities and colleges. They are designed to prepare graduates for further study in theology or for careers in practical ministry. They provide students with an educational and historical background in Christian faith and beliefs, while at the same time supplying the communication tools and counseling skills necessary to serve a congregation.
Some schools offering Associate of Divinity programs do not require incoming students to have any particular educational or professional background beyond a high school diploma. However, some Christian schools do require that individuals entering an associate's degree program in divinity have at least three years of experience working within a church in some capacity.
Advanced research, honorary degrees of divinity, pair research with seminars and classroom lectures covering the history of Christianity and the Christian doctrine. Professional lectures or internships may be required. Themes from each type of course include:
* New Testament
* Old Testament
* Theology training
* Moral decision-making
* Contemporary Christian life
* Pastoral ministry training
* History of Western civilization
Those who hold a B.A., who are interested in learning more about other religions or theology in general, and have access to a Christian University, might consider master's degree programs in theology or religious studies. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs in theology offer students the chance to research theology in depth and pursue a career in academia.
A Summary of some of the main modules of study:
Principles of Faith
Provides a solid grounding in all the main doctrines of the Bible, in relation to the times we are living in, and the preparation necessary to finish the work God has given us to do. With emphasis on the plan of redemption, as viewed through the cross of Christ and His ministry in the Heavenly Sanctuary, this set of modules will repeat old truths in a new and living way.
A comprehensive coverage of Daniel and Revelation with particular emphasis on our position in Bible history and prophecy. The fourth angel's message will be given strong emphasis, along with the ministry of the Holy Spirit and the character needed for the message to do its work.
History of the Christian Church
Establishes confidence in Christ's divine/supreme love/authority during the Christian era, through preservation and growth of His church and His doctrines, and through the fulfilment of numerous prophecies.
* History & its Prophecy
Revealing the prophetic symbols, timelines, and stories of each Old Testament book, these modules will open your understanding of the last day prophecies of Daniel, Revelation, and the New Testament, as revealed in the Old Testament.
Instruction and hands-on experience in vital Christian help ministries, such as charity assistance, disaster relief, self defense. Christian weddings. Emphasis will be placed on methods and qualifications needed for ministry, and numerous ideas of types of evangelism, and how to conduct them.
Principles of Evangelism
Ideal for beginning new churces in unentered territory. Includes ground work, campaign, and follow up work, types of seminars, and you will come away with a series of sermons, a Bible study series, and the tools needed for networking, advertising, budgeting, planning, and executing soul-winning work at the layman's level.
Denominational and World Religion History
We will take a look at the history, branches, ideals, similarities and differences between various religions and denominations of those religions.
Principles of Christian Education
True education is the restoration of the image of God, in the human soul. The education takes in life skills, character development, social skills, and improving all the talents God has given us to do all within our reach, by God's grace, to accomplish the work that Christ has left us to do. This education is far broader than most realize, but is made practical and useful.
Principles of Health Ministry
Carefully reviewing books, studies of emergency and health medicine. God has given us so much information on what health services to provide the public with, and how to conduct these services in a way that reveals Christ to the world.
Anatomy & Physiology
College level comprehensive course of the main systems of the body, including nutrients, and the cell and its functions. Anatomy and Physiology in detail, leaving the student with enough knowledge to make their ministry practical in understanding the human body and which treatments are the best for each unique situation.
Principles of Safety and Self Protection
As a Missionary, it's a good chance you may be called to some dangerous places. Verbal skills, safety awareness and how to facilitate rapid escape may be useful, if all else fails. Minimal to Advanced level, real world proven safety and self protection skills. Practical, smart, functional and simple to apply skills. We teach a progressive program with each level. The higher level missionary will be able to show real self defense skills to people that need them. Women and children in dangerous areas and situations are in particular need.
Principles of Self Supporting Ministry
A look at supporting work and its essential role in aiding the church to finish the work God has given us. This class shows how we can work together, to spread the ideals of faith in the community.
